Jennifer Flaherty Principal |
| Jennifer Flaherty is a principal and co-founder of Magellan Data and Mapping Strategies. Jennifer began her career in political technology in the fall of 2000 working for The Republican National Committee (RNC) Redistricting Department. In this capacity, she mastered mapping software such as ArcView and Maptitude and database management software such as Access and FoxPro. While mastering these software programs, Jennifer learned the different steps each state followed to drawing their State House, State Senate, and Congressional boundaries. She led many high level meetings with state staff that included members of Congress, attorneys, and Governors. Jennifer also created precinct return databases for states that included demographic data such as race and income. Her political databases were integrated into the GIS software that determined the redistricting process.
Following the 2001 redistricting cycle, Jennifer joined the Strategy Department at the RNC. During this time, she managed the updates to the “MERLIN” database, a master clearinghouse of past election results, jurisdiction codes, political boundaries and components, and Media Markets. Jennifer managed the staff collecting and entering the precinct election results (collection, formatting and verification) and exclusively worked on one-time requests and projects from the White House, other RNC divisions, and fellow GOP organizations. One of Jennifer’s most significant accomplishments was for the 2004 Bush-Cheney campaign. She created the only precincts boundary database for target states for the campaign. This included mapping precincts and creating “Vote Goals” based on Bush 2000 performance, population, registration, and other available data. This data was used to target precincts, direct registered Republicans to the polls, and much more for the success. Jennifer is a graduate of the University of Texas. She and David Flaherty were married in February, 2003 and are the proud parents of two boys, Jack and Bobby. They reside in Broomfield, Colorado and enjoy hiking, fly fishing and skiing when the grandparents are in town and watching the kids. |
